Comfy and Stylish

Today it was pretty cold and windy outside so we stayed inside the house most of the day.  The kids played while I cleaned the house and did laundry- I know you are jealous by how exciting my life is.  Well, since I was cleaning I put on a pair of sweats and a sweatshirt and threw my hair up in a bun and that is what I wore all day.  I was very comfy which is what I wanted but as I am typing this and looking at myself I just shake my head. I hate to admit this but I had to run to the store to get stuff for dinner and I didn't even change, I wore exactly what I wore all day cleaning.  If I would had went to walmart I probably would have been on the website "People of Walmart".   As I said in my earlier post, I want to start making changes to myself to portray an improved me.  On the weekends I want to be comfortable but I have come to realize that I can be comfortable and stylish at the same time.  So, I wanted to find some other options besides my sweatpants and sweatshirts, and here is what I came up with.Comfy and Stylish

AWESOME!!!!

I offically hit 100 pageviews of my blog- I know this might not seem nothing to most of you but I thought it was pretty awesome.  Even though I am happy with this I am kind of disappointed that I only have 1 follower- who is actually my sister :)   So, if you are reading this and like what you read I am just asking that you become my follower and you can also like my facebook.  I know I might sound a little pathetic but I just want to feel loved- okay that is a little too drama queen.  If you have any suggestions or comments- constructive but nice- please feel free to let me know how I can improve my blog.  Okay enough of me sounding like a pathetic loser- its time to celebrate my 100 hits.

DIY part 2

It is so hard for me to choose only 3 of my top DIY websites because there are so many wonderful and creative people out there.  But if I posted all my favorite DIY sites it would take me weeks.  So, with out further ado here are my final 2 top DIY sites

Have you ever seen a designer item that you absolutely love but you couldn't imagine paying so much money for a purse?  Well, this site is a must go to for you.  Check out some of the awesome things she has done:

Everywhere you look online you see everyone wearing multiple braclets,  This is a simple and expensive bracelet you can make and she has other bracelets on her site you can make and wear them all together and look stylish without breaking the bank.

If you had to guess what this necklace is made out of what what you guess.  It looks like it is made of metal but it is actually made out of plastic straws and shoestring!  This is seriously awesome and no one would know looking at this that it was made of straws.

My final favorite site is a great site for anyone who like DIY projects that have to do with your house.

This site is a place for people to submit their before and afters of different home projects they have done.   From this site I have found TONS of blogs of the most creative woman.  If you want to see some amazing transformations you need to visit this site. Here are only a few of the great projects:

To give the boring lamp some glam they took 14 plastic coke bottles, some duct tape, and spray paint- yes you read right- plastic bottles!

This hutch went from something you would find in your grandmas house to something you would want in your own.  All it took was a few coats of paint and some minor changes and voila a brand new hutch.

I hate the C word

Some people in my family call me the dreaded C word-Cheap-but I like to think of myself as financially responsible.  I hate to pay full price for things and whenever I see something in a store I always think of how I can either get it cheaper or do it myself.   In my last post regarding gold accessories I posted this picture

These gold log coffee tables reatil for $1,049- that just sounds crazy to me for a log painted gold.  So I went on a search for a cheaper option and I found this

The person actually made 5 coffee tables for I would guess maybe $50 dollars.  I know they are not gold but I highly doubt painting them gold will cost $1,000 more.

I have found so many creative people throughout my internet searches that I have realized that I am not alone in my quest. In my next couple of posts I am going to show a couple of my favorite sites.  One of my favorite sites is by a woman who finds something she likes and shows how to make it cheaper.

Ana White is not only gorgeous but she is a mastermind of carpentry.  She has a webiste called http://ana-white.com/ and it is a diyers dream.  She finds pieces of furniture that companies have for sale and she creates her own plan on how to build the items and then she posts it on her website- the kicker is she does it for free- you don't have to pay for her plans, she just asks people to post items that they have made.  I am not very familiar with power tools but she has motivated me to try.  Here are some projects that are on my MUST DO list:

Braden Entryway Hutch

My husband doesn't  know it yet but we will be building this in the summertime:

Playhouse

I'm searching for gold

No, I am not going through all my jewelry trying to find some gold pieces to sell to make money.  I am on a search to find some great gold home accessories.  I just think adding some gold pieces throughout your house can instantly add some glamour to it.

You don't want to add too mandy gold pieces because then your hosue will be looking like a rappers mouth

Rules were made to be broken

In high school I had a pair of dr. martens brown boots that I wore with everything including my black jeans.  I thought I looked cute and stylish but there were some girls in my school that thought it was their job to let me know that brown and black didn't match- they didn't do it in a nice way but that is besides the point.  I guess this was a "fashion rule" that I didn't know about, you know like the old rule of not wearing white after labor day.  Well, if I saw those girls now I would tell them to kiss my brown boots because everywhere you look on the internet now all you see are brown and black combos.

Anyone want to buy me these for christmas?

Makeunder My Life

As you have read in my earlier post, I am starting a journey to create a new me.  While searching the internet the other day for some ideas I found a website that was perfect for me.  The website is called Makeunder My Life   and it is like the holy grail for anyone looking to make changes in their life.  Jess Constable is the woman behind the website and she not only helps people design their lives but she also designs jewelry and handbags.  Her main purpose for the website is to help people design their life with intention.  The one part of her website that I really enjoyed was the Midnight Hustling section.  This area of the website is all about people who are working to go from their day job to their dream job.  The Hall of Fame section gives people a place to write about how they are working a day job while also pursuing their dream job.  I have always dreamed about having my own business and it was so great to actaully read about people who have done it or what other peoples dreams are.  So, if you are in a slump in your life and want some inspiration or direction I highly recommend going to this website because it is a great source of information.

Pointing fingers

To kick off my new me transformation I tried to think of something small that I would like to start off with.  So I went on my favorite site, Pinterest, to get some inspiration and I found it!  I bet you are dying to know what it is so I will not make you wait any longer... The first thing I want to change is my fingernails.  No, I don't want to grow them out to be in the Gusinness World Record books.  I paint my fingernails maybe once a month- so they look nice for maybe a week and then the nailpolish slowly chips away and when only there is a little left I finally decide to repaint them.  Well not no more.  For now on I will be painting my nails every 2 weeks or sooner if the nail polish comes off.  Some people might say they don't notice peoples nails but I think your nails are kind of like accesories- they can complete your look.  I found some great nail art on Pinterest.

I haven't decided which one I want to do first but these are my top 3- I will post pictures once I do it.
